This potato Jamun is made with potato, Khoya and wheat flour. Its deep fried and soaked in sugar syrup.

Ingredients

  • Potato – 1 big

  • Khoya – 2 tablespoon

  • Wheat flour – 3 to 4 tablespoon

  • Ghee – 2 to 3 tablespoon

  • Sugar – 1 cup

  • Powdered sugar – 1 tablespoon

  • Cardamom Powder – 1 teaspoon

  • Oil – for deep frying

Directions

  • Boil potato till soft. Remove the skin and mash it nicely.
  • In a kadai put two tablespoon ghee and fry the wheat flour till you get nice aroma.
  • Mix fried wheat flour, mashed potato, khoya and powdered sugar together and make a soft dough. Make small round or oblong balls.
  • Put the sugar in a vessel and add enough water to cover it. Bring to boil. When it starts boiling, reduce the heat and allow to boil for few minutes. Add cardamom powder and keep aside.
  • Heat oil in a kadai. Fry the balls in a medium heat till it turns golden brown. Remove and put it in the sugar syrup. Allow to soak in the syrup at least for half an hour.

  4. Can you please tell me what is koya? and where do you get it ? Can we prepare at home?

    • Koya is also known as Mawa. You can make it at home by boiling milk and reduce it to a thick solid consistency. Or make Instant khoya, recipe available in the sweet section of this site.
