Ingredients
Wheat flour – 1/2 cup
Carrot (Medium) – 2 Nos
Sugar – 3/4 cup
Ghee – 3 to 4 tablespoons
Cardamom Powder – 1/4 teaspoon
Cashew Nuts – few
Directions
Wash and peel the skin from carrot. Cut it into medium size pieces and cook it till soft. Grind the cooked carrot to a fine puree.
In a thick bottomed kadai put the ghee and add wheat flour. Fry on medium flame till you get nice aroma. Add carrot puree and stir well. Then add sugar and stir continuously till blends well and become thick. If necessary add one or two teaspoon of ghee at this stage so that halwa will come out of the kadai without sticking. Sprinkle cardamom powder and mix well. Transfer to a greased plate or bowl. Garnish with chopped cashew nuts.
Note: If you want more sweet, then increase thequantity of sugar to one cup.
If you cook it till it reaches the right consistency and add little ghee to make it come out of the vessel easily without sticking, you will get perfect halwa. Try once more with little quantity. It may turn out good.
Hi, I made this for dessert when I had some guests coming home for lunch and it was a big hit. The taste was awesome and it was very easy to prepare. This recipe is a keeper. Thank you so much for all the beautiful recipes in your website.
Dear aunty.. it came out well. I just have a doubt.. after frying wheat flour with ghee and adding carrot puree… it forms lumps….how to do without dat?
Tried the halwa today. Although lumps formed, I added water and mixed it well. Also, I substituted jaggery syrup instead of sugar. It was heavenly and my daughter loved it! Thanks a lot Kamala and God Bless!

I am making all this thought purattasi as neivediyam…best part they are fast to make all my family members have appreciated the dish.. a real hearty thanks
No need to add water. When you grind the carrot to puree, the water content in the carrot puree will blend well with the wheat flour. And when you add sugar, again it will melt to liquid stage and then become thick like halwa.
This recipe came out really good. Best of all it took hardly 10 minutes to prepare. 3/4 cup of sugar was perfect so you can eat as much as you want as opposed to typical halwa which will leave a sweet taste after the first bite. Really good and simple. Thank you very much.

should we need to add water when we cook carrot?
Yes. We have to add enough water to cook the carrot and drain the excess water, if any, after cooking.
