An idiyappam dish made with coconut, onion and green chillies

Ingredients

  • Idiyappam – 1 big bowl

  • Onion – 1

  • Green Chillies – 2

  • Fresh ginger – a small piece

  • Coconut gratings – 2 tablespoon

  • Curry leaves – few

  • Lemon juice – 1 tablespoon

  • Mustard – ½ teaspoon

  • Urad dhal – 1 teaspoon

  • Oil – 1 tablespoon

Directions

  • Chop onion, green chillies and ginger finely.
  • Gently take out the idiyappam strings and make it loose.
  • In a kadai put the oil and when it is hot add mustard.
  • When it pops up, add urad dhal and fry lightly.
  • Add chopped onion, green chillies, ginger and curry leaves.
  • Fry till the onion turn slightly brown.
  • Now add idiyappam strings and mix gently.
  • Add lemon juice and little salt.
  • Add finally coconut gratings and once again stir well.
