Green Gram Sprouts

Green gram also known as “Moong” is a popular pulse, which is rich in protein. Sprouted beans are better known for its health benefits and is easily digestible. You can use this green gram sprouts to make Sundal.

This sprouts are made with green gram dhal by soaking and fermenting for a day

Ingredients

  • Green gram – 1 cup

  • Water (enough to soak)

Directions

  • Soak a cup of green gram in water for at least 12 hours.
  • Wash well and put it in a muslin cloth and tie it like a bundle. Hang it for another 10 to 12 hours in a warm place.
  • When you open the bundle you will see all the grams are sprouted well.
  • Tip:
  • If you are living in a cold place, then it will take more time and you can sprinkle little water over the bundle and keep it for more time. Or you can put the soaked gram in a hot pack and keep it.

Notes

  • You can use this sprouts in salad or making raita as it is. If you do not like raw smell, then just steam it for five minutes or microwave it. You can add this to vegetable poriyal or kootu or to any dish you like.
