Discover the rich and nutty flavors of ellu chutney, a traditional South Indian condiment. Perfect for dosas and idlis, or as a spread for sandwiches!

Ingredients

  • White Til (Ellu) seeds – 2 tablespoon

  • Coconut gratings – ½ cup

  • Red Chillies – 3 to 4 Nos

  • Tamarind – a small gooseberry size

  • Salt – 1 teaspoon or as per taste

  • Oil – 1 teaspoon

  • Mustard – ½ teaspoon

  • Curry Leaves – few

Directions

  • Clean the til seeds and roast them in a dry pan until they pop. Remove from heat and let cool.
  • In a blender, combine coconut, chillies, tamarind, the roasted til seeds, and salt. Blend until it turns into a smooth paste.
  • In a small pan, heat some oil and add mustard seeds and curry leaves for seasoning. Stir this into the paste and it’s ready to serve!
