Ingredients
Green Gram Dhal – ½ cup
Onion – 1
Green Chillies – 2
Fresh ginger – a small piece
Tomato – 1
Curry leaves – few
Coriander leaves – few
Lemon juice – 1 teaspoon
Turmeric powder – a pinch
Oil – 2 teaspoon
Mustard – ½ teaspoon
Jeera – 1 teaspoon
Salt – 1/2 teaspoon or as per taste
Directions
- Add green gram dhal along with a pinch of turmeric powder in a thick bottomed vessel and add two cups of water and a teaspoon of oil and cook till soft. The dhal should not be over cooked. (I do not prefer pressure cooking this dhal since it is very small and cook very fast).
- Chop onion, green chillies and ginger finely. Chop tomato into small pieces.
- In a frying pan add oil and when it is hot, add mustard. When it pops up, add jeera and fry for a while.
- Then add chopped onion, chillies and ginger along with few curry leaves. Fry till the onion become transparent.
- Add chopped tomatoes and fry till it mashed well.
- Now add the cooked dhal and half teaspoon salt. Mix well. Allow to boil.
- Switch off the stove and add a teaspoon lemon juice. Garnish with coriander leaves
