Ingredients
Cabbage chopped finely – 1 medium bowl
Green peas – 1/2 cup
Tamarind juice – 2 to 3 tablespoon
Green Gram Dhal – 1/4 cup
Turmeric powder – a pinch
- For Grinding:
Coconut gratings – 2 tablespoon
Coriander Seeds – 1 tablespoon
Red Chillies – 2
Pepper – 1 teaspoon
- For seasoning:
Onion – 1
Green Chillies – 2
Curry Leaves – few
Oil – 1 tablespoon
Mustard – 1/2 teaspoon
Salt – 1 teaspoon or as per taste
Directions
- Cook green gram dhal along with turmeric powder in a pot over medium flame until it’s soft.
- Chop onion finely, and slit green chillies lengthwise.
- In a teaspoon of oil, fry red chillies, coriander seeds, pepper and coconut gratings until fragrant, then grind to a fine paste.
- In a separate pan, heat oil over a medium flame and add mustard seeds.
- When they start to pop, add chopped onion, slit green chillies and curry leaves and fry until the onion turns translucent.
- Add green peas and fry for a few minutes, then add cabbage pieces and mix well.
- Add the ground paste, salt, and a splash of water, stirring to combine.
- Cover the pan with a lid and cook on low heat until the cabbage is cooked through.
- Add tamarind juice and cooked dhal, stirring to combine.
- Allow everything to simmer for a few more minutes before removing from the heat.
