Ingredients

  • Jackfruit Seeds (Palaa Kottai) – 1 cup

  • Onion – 1

  • Tomato – 1

  • Turmeric powder – 1/4 teaspoon

  • Oil – 1 tablespoon

  • Mustard – 1/2 teaspoon

  • Urad dhal – 1 teaspoon

  • Asafoetida powder – a pinch

  • Curry leaves – few

  • Salt – 1 teaspoon or as per taste

Directions

  • Halve the jackfruit seeds and peel off the tough, white outer layer.
  • Boil the seeds in water until they are soft, then drain off the excess water and set them aside.
  • Finely dice the onion and tomato.
  • Heat oil in a kadai over a medium flame. Once the oil is hot, add mustard seeds.

  • Incorporate the diced tomato, frying until the tomatoes break down and become mushy.
  • Add the cooked jackfruit seeds to the kadai along with sambar powder, turmeric powder, and salt to taste. Combine everything thoroughly.
  • Continue to cook the mixture over a low flame for five minutes, stirring occasionally to prevent sticking.
