Learn how to make a delicious and healthy green banana curry with this recipe. It’s easy to prepare and requires only a few ingredients.

Ingredients

  • Raw Banana (plantain) – 1

  • Sambar Powder – 1 teaspoon

  • Turmeric powder – a pinch

  • Salt – ½ teaspoon

  • Urad dhal – 1 teaspoon

  • Mustard – ½ teaspoon

  • Asafoetida powder- 2 pinches

  • Oil – 2 teaspoons

  • Coconut gratings – 1 tablespoon

  • Curry Leaves – few

Directions

  • Begin by peeling the banana and cutting it into small, bite-sized pieces.
  • Place the banana pieces in a cooking vessel and sprinkle sambar powder, turmeric powder, and salt over them.
  • Add just enough water to cover the banana pieces. Cook the mixture until the banana becomes soft and tender. Once cooked, drain any excess water.
  • Next, heat oil in a kadai (a traditional Indian cooking pot) and add mustard seeds to it. Wait until the mustard seeds start to splutter, then add urad dal and fry until it turns a light brown color. Now, add asafoetida powder and curry leaves, and fry for a short while to release their flavors.
  • Add the cooked banana to the kadai and stir it well, ensuring that the spices coat the banana pieces evenly.
  • Finally, incorporate grated coconut into the mixture, thoroughly mixing it with the other ingredients. Once done, remove the dish from the heat and serve.
