Vazhaikkai (Banana) Curry


  • Green banana – 1
  • Coconut gratings – 1 tablespoon
  • Red chillies – 2 Nos
  • Raw Rice – 2 teaspoon
  • Oil – 2 teaspoon
  • Mustard – ½ teaspoon
  • Curry Leaves – few
  • Salt – ½ teaspoon or as per taste

Remove the skin from the banana and cut it into small pieces. Put it into a vessel and add salt and just enough water to cover the vegetable. Cook till the vegetable is soft. Drain the excess water. Keep aside.
In a kadai put the red chillies and raw rice and dry fry (without any oil) till the rice turns light brown. Cool it and powder it.
In the same kadai put the oil and add mustard seeds and when it pops up add curry leaves and fry for a while. Add the cooked banana along with a pinch of salt and the rice chilli powder. Stir well. Add coconut gratings, mix well and remove.
