Spicy Thukkada

Spicy thukkada is a popular Indian snack made from deep-fried flour crisps. It is typically seasoned with a combination of spices such as red chili powder, turmeric, cumin, and salt. The spiciness can be adjusted according to personal preference by adding more or less chili powder. Spicy thukkada is often enjoyed with tea or as a standalone snack.

Discover the irresistible delight of a Christmas sweet dish made with aromatic spices and maida flour. Indulge in the festive flavors!

Ingredients

  • 1 cup Maida

  • ½ teaspoon Red Chilli Powder

  • ½ teaspoon Asafotida Powder

  • 1 teaspoon Salt

  • 2 teaspoon Butter or Ghee

  • Oil for deep frying

Directions

  • Mix maida, red chilli powder, asafetida, butter and salt. Add water little by little and make a soft dough.
  • Make into lemon size balls and roll out to a very thin large chapattis. Cut it into small diamond or square shape strips using sharp knife.
  • Heat oil in a kadai. When it is hot, take out gently the maida strips and put it in the oil. Fry till it is crisp.
  • Store it in an air-tight container.

Notes

  • You can also make a sweet version of this recipe called sweet thukkada.
