Rava (Sooji) Puttu

Discover the delightful and nutritious South Indian breakfast, Rava puttu! Made with semolina and coconut, it pairs perfectly with banana or sugar.

Ingredients

  • Rawa – 1 cup

  • Sugar – 2 to 3 tablespoon or as per taste

  • Coconut gratings – ½ cup

  • Ghee – 1 to 2 teaspoons

  • Cashew Nut – 5

  • Cardamom Powder – a pinch

  • Salt – a pinch

Directions

  • In a large bowl, add a pinch of salt to the rawa. Sprinkle some hot water and stir well. Cover an idli plate with a clean thin cloth and spread the rawa on it. Steam it for 15 to 20 minutes.
  • Meanwhile, heat a teaspoon of ghee in a pan and fry the cashew nuts. Transfer the steamed rawa to a bowl and add sugar, coconut gratings, cardamom powder, fried cashew nuts and ghee. Mix well.

Notes

  • Add the ingredients to the steamed rawa while it is still warm. This will help the ghee and sugar to blend well with the rawa.

  2. Hi i have tried this rawa puttu today, it was taste good with ripe banana. But i try to eat just the puttu without banana and i feel it very dry and i can’t swallow..maybe there is any mistake on me. Please advice. Thanks
