Vella Aval, or sweet poha, is a simple, comforting snack from South India. It uses soft aval, jaggery, cardamom, and fresh coconut. The flavors are warm, sweet, and lightly spiced. Ready in minutes and perfect for breakfast or a quick sweet treat.

This is a quick, comforting South Indian treat of softened flattened rice tossed with warm jaggery and fragrant cardamom, finished with fresh coconut for a tender, sweet bite. Wash the aval and drain completely, then let it rest for 10–15 minutes to soften. Mix in jaggery powder and cardamom powder until evenly coated, fold in coconut gratings, and serve immediately. Simple, naturally sweet, and ready in minutes.
