Godhumai (Wheat) Rawa Upma


  • Wheat Rawa – 1 cup
  • Onion – 1
  • Red Chillies – 2
  • Fresh ginger – a small piece
  • Bengal gram dhal – 1 teaspoon
  • Urad dhal – 1 teaspoon
  • Asafotida Powder – a pinch
  • Curry leaves – few
  • Oil – 4 teaspoons
  • Mustard – ½ teaspoon
  • Salt – ½ teaspoon or as per taste

In a kadai, put the rawa and dry fry till it changes its colour. Remove it and keep aside.
In the same kadai, put the oil and when it is hot, add the mustard. When it pops up, add the dhals, red chillies broken into bits, asafotida powder and fry till the dhal turns light brown. Add chopped onion and curry leaves. Fry till onions are transparent. Add two cups of water along with salt. Bring to boil. When it starts boiling, add the fried rawa and stir well. Close with lid and cook on low flame till all the water is absorbed and the rawa is cooked well.
