Ingredients

  • Pudina (Mint Leaves) – a handful

  • Kothamalli (Coriander Leaves) – a handful

  • Coconut gratings – 1/4 cup

  • Sambar Onion – 2

  • Garlic flakes – 2

  • Bengal Gram Dal – 1 teaspoon

  • Urad dal – 2 teaspoons

  • Red chillies – 4

  • Tamarind – a small gooseberry size

  • Asafoetida powder – 2 pinches

  • Oil – 2 teaspoons

  • Salt – 1/2 teaspoon or as per taste

Directions

  • In a kadai put oil and add Bengal gram dal and urad dal and fry on a medium flame till turns light brown.
  • Add red chillies, onion, garlic, tamarind and fry for few seconds.
  • Then add mint and coriander leaves and fry for few more seconds.
  • Finally add coconut gratings and just mix it.
  • Sprinkle asafoetida powder and remove.
  • Allow to cool.
  • Put all the fried items along with salt in a mixie jar and grind it to a coarse paste.
