Ingredients
Potato – 2 Nos
Onion – 1 No
Sambar Powder – 2 teaspoons
Turmeric Powder – 1/4 teaspoon
Salt – 1/2 teaspoon or as per taste
- For Seasoning:
Oil – 2 tablespoons
Mustard – 1/2 teaspoon
Urad dhal – 1 teaspoon
Asafoetida Powder – 2 pinches
Curry Leaves – few
Directions
- Wash the potato and cut it into small pieces. No need to remove the skin.
- Chop onion finely.
- In a kadai put the oil and when it is hot add mustard. When it starts to pop up, add urad dhal and asafoetida and fry till the dhal turns light brown.
- Add chopped onion and curry leaves and fry till the onion become translucent.
- Add potato pieces along with sambar powder, turmeric and salt. Mix well.
- Add a cup of water. Close with a lid and cook on medium flame till the potatos absorbed all the water and cooked soft.
- Open the lid, mix it well and remove.
Notes
- Water quantity may be increased or decreased depending on the size of the potato. You have to add water just to cover the potatos.
- After cutting the potatos, put it in water to avoid decolourisation.
