Vazhaikkai Poriyal is a traditional South Indian dish made with raw banana. To prepare it, the skin of the banana is removed and the fruit is cut into small pieces. The banana pieces are then cooked with sambar powder, turmeric powder, salt, and water until they become soft. Excess water is drained. In a separate pan, mustard seeds, urad dal, asafoetida powder, and curry leaves are fried in oil. The cooked banana is added to this pan and mixed well. Finally, grated coconut is added and mixed before removing from heat. Vazhaikkai Poriyal is a flavorful and nutritious dish that can be enjoyed as a side dish with rice or roti.
