Tomato Chutney

Tomato Chutney is a flavorful South Indian condiment. It is made by sautéing tomatoes, garlic, tamarind, and spices. This process enhances their taste. Bengal gram dal, urad dal, and red chilies are fried until golden and mixed with the cooked tomato mixture. Once cooled, everything is blended into a smooth paste with salt. The chutney is then finished with a fragrant tempering of mustard seeds, urad dal, and curry leaves. This tangy and mildly spicy chutney pairs perfectly with idli, dosa, or steamed rice. It adds a delicious punch of flavor to any meal.
