Green gram pepper masala is a flavorful and nourishing dish, ideal for a hearty meal.

Ingredients

  • Greem Gram (Pachai Payaru) – 1 cup

  • Coriander Powder – 2 teaspoons

  • Black Pepper Powder – 1 teaspoon

  • Turmeric Powder – 1/4 teaspoon

  • Green Chillies – 2

  • Oil – 1 teapoon

  • Salt – 1 teaspoon or as per taste

Directions

  • Soak the green gram overnight or for at least 6 hours. Wash thoroughly and add two cups of water, then pressure cook for one to two whistles.
  • Slit the green chilies lengthwise.
  • Heat oil in a kadai, add the green chilies, and fry briefly.
  • Combine the cooked green gram (including the water it was cooked in) with turmeric powder, coriander powder, pepper powder, and salt. Mix well.
  • Cover with a lid and simmer on medium heat for one to two minutes.
