Cabbage Peas Poriyal


  • 1 small cabbage (approx 250 gms) or a medium size cut piece
  • 1/2 cup green peas
  • 1 tablespoon coconut gratings
  • 1 big onion
  • 3 green chillies
  • 1 spring curry leaves
  • 1 tablespoon oil
  • 1 teaspoon mustard
  • Salt – ½ teaspoon or as per taste

Cut the cabbage into fine bits. Chop the onion, curry leaves and green chillies. In a kadai put the oil and when it is hot add one teaspoon mustard. When it pops up, add Onions, green chillies and curry leaves and fry for two minutes. Add cabbage, green peas and mix well. Cover with a lid and cook on low flame. No need to add water. Stir now and then till it is cooked. Now add salt and mix well for few seconds. Then add coconut gratings and mix well.
