Potato Methi | Aloo Methi Fry

A side dish that is served with rice or roti made with potatoes and methi leaves. You can also try a similar potato dish, pudina potato curry and potato jeera fry.

    This dish made with potato and jeera. This is a common dish from North India and curry leaves are not added to it. But I added curry leaves and it tastes good.

A side dish that is served with rice or roti and made with potatoes and methi leaves.

Ingredients

  • Baby potatoes – 5 to 7

  • Methi leaves – 1 bunch

  • Oil- 2tbsp

  • Jeera – 1 tsp

  • Chilli poweder – 1 tsp

  • Dhania powder – 2 tsp

  • Turmeric – 1/4 tsp

  • Garam masala powder – 1tsp

  • Ginger garlic paste (optional) – 2 tsp

  • Salt to taste

Directions

  • In pan, add 1 tsp oil and sauté cut Methi leaves
  • Cook Methi till soft and remove from pan
  • In the same pan, add remaining oil. When it’s hot add jeera and onion
  • Sauté till onion changes color and add ginger and garlic paste and sauté till raw smell goes away
  • Now add potato, turmeric powder, chilli powder, dhania powder and garam masala. Add salt and mix all ingredients
  • Add 1/2 cup water, close with a lid and cook potatoes till soft.
  • Once potatoes are cooked add sautéed Methi leaves and mix well.

Notes

  • Potatoes can be pre-boiled and cut for faster cooking
