Indulge in the wholesome goodness of Wheat Carrot Halwa – a nutritious twist on the classic Indian dessert bursting with sweet and aromatic flavors.

Ingredients

  • Wheat flour – ½ cup

  • Carrot – 2 (Medium size)

  • Sugar – ¾ cup

  • Ghee – 3 to 4 tablespoons

  • Cardamom Powder – ¼ teaspoon

  • Cashew Nuts – few

Directions

  • Start by washing and peeling a carrot. Cut it into medium-sized pieces and cook until soft. Once cooked, blend these pieces into a fine puree.
  • Heat ghee in a thick-bottomed kadai and add wheat flour. Fry on medium flame until you notice a pleasant aroma. Add the carrot puree to the kadai and stir well to combine.
  • Gradually add sugar while stirring continuously. Continue to stir the mixture until it thickens and blends well. If the mixture starts to stick, add an extra one or two teaspoons of ghee to help the halwa release from the kadai easily.
  • Once the halwa has thickened and is pulling away from the sides of the kadai, sprinkle in cardamom powder and mix thoroughly for a burst of flavor.
  • Transfer the halwa to a greased plate or bowl and smooth the surface. Garnish with chopped cashew nuts for added texture and flavor.
  • If you prefer a sweeter halwa, feel free to increase the sugar quantity to one cup, according to your taste.

BTW, Can we reheat this recipe if consumed the next day? Do I use oven or any other method to reheat without losing the taste and texture?

    • Hi Lalita,

If you cook it till it reaches the right consistency and add little ghee to make it come out of the vessel easily without sticking, you will get perfect halwa. Try once more with little quantity. It may turn out good.

  15. i just have a doubt, for this wheat carrot halwa we need to add water or not necessary ?

    • Hi Sathya,

No need to add water. When you grind the carrot to puree, the water content in the carrot puree will blend well with the wheat flour. And when you add sugar, again it will melt to liquid stage and then become thick like halwa.

  16. Hi,

This recipe came out really good. Best of all it took hardly 10 minutes to prepare. 3/4 cup of sugar was perfect so you can eat as much as you want as opposed to typical halwa which will leave a sweet taste after the first bite. Really good and simple. Thank you very much.
