This onion peanut chutney can be served with most snacks or breakfast items.

Ingredients

  • Sambar Onion – 15 to 20

  • Peanut – 1 cup

  • Red Chillies – 6

  • Tamarind – Small Gooseberry size

  • For Seasoning:
  • Oil – 2 teaspoons

  • Mustard – ½ teaspoon

  • Asafetida Powder – 2 pinches

  • Salt – 1 teaspoon or as per taste

Directions

  • In a kadai, add one teaspoon of oil and sambar onions. Fry until they turn translucent and light brown.
  • Then, add peanuts, tamarind, and red chillies, frying for a few more seconds.
  • Transfer everything to a plate to cool.
  • Place the fried onions, peanuts, red chillies, tamarind, and salt into a mixer jar and grind into a paste.
  • Finally, season with mustard and asafoetida powder.

Notes

  • If you do not have sambar onion, you case use one big onion. Chop the big onion into cubes and use it.
