This onion peanut chutney can be served with most snacks or breakfast items.

Ingredients

  • Sambar Onion – 15 to 20 Nos

  • Peanut – 1 cup

  • Red Chillies – 6

  • Tamarind – Small Gooseberry size

  • For Seasoning:
  • Oil – 2 teaspoons

  • Mustard – 1/2 teaspoon

  • Asafetida Powder – 2 pinches

  • Salt – 1 teaspoon or as per taste

Directions

  • In a kadai put one teaspoon oil and add sambar onion. Fry till it become translucent and light brown.
  • Then add peanuts, tamarind and red chillies and fry for few more seconds.
  • Transfer to a plate and allow to cool.
  • Put fried onion, fried peanut, red chillies, tamarind and salt in a mixie jar and grind it to a paste.
  • Season it with mustard and asafoetida powder.

Notes

  • If you do not have sambar onion, you case use one big onion. Chop the big onion into cubes and use it.
