  1. I look at your website for cooking most of my dishes. Thanks for your precise and simple recipes.

    I have one general question.

How do you measure 1 cup? I bought a measuring cup from store which indicates 1 cup = 8 ounces.
Is it same in your recipes?

I just wanted to know this, because i would increase or decrease quantity of other ingredients accordingly.

    Kindly clarify.

    Thanks
    Subha

  2. Hi Subha

Thank you for visiting my site and your comments.

The cup I mentioned in my recipes are normally the size of tea cup which is also equivalent to the measuring cup which we get along with rice cookers. Yes. the measuring cup you mentioned (8 ounce) is more or less same.

  9. Tried this with spinach. Must have gone wrong somewhere. Pretty bland.

    • Hi Tasneem,

When you add green chillies and sambar powder to this rice preparation, the rice will not be bland. I am not sure what type of chilli powder you used in this. If you feel it is bland, add more sambar powder or green chillies to get the spicy taste.

  10. Tried this recipe, and loved it! Tasted wonderful, but I couldn’t fry the peanuts much, since the cashews and urad dal was starting to brown a bit too much. Will be definitely making this again! Many thanks!
