Indulge in the crispy goodness of Mint Vadai, a popular South Indian snack bursting with fresh mint flavor. Perfect for any occasion!

Ingredients

  • Urad dhal – 1 cup

  • Mint chopped – ½ cup

  • Black Pepper – 2 teaspoons

  • Jeera – 1 teaspoon

  • Salt – 1 teaspoon or as per taste

  • Oil – for deep frying

Directions

  • Soak urad dal for one to two hours, then wash and drain thoroughly. Grind the dal to a coarse paste without adding water.
  • Coarsely crush or pound pepper and cumin and add to the paste along with chopped mint and salt. Mix well.
  • Heat oil in a kadai, shape the dough into lemon-sized balls, flatten them slightly and make a hole in the center. Fry in the oil until they are light brown and crisp.

  2. I tried it, but the vada was little bit hard. please tell me how to make it crispy and soft like our usual vada.

  3. Hi Sabitha,

    To get a soft vada, you have to grind the dhal to a smooth paste. If you grind it coarsely, we may get crunchy but little hard vadas only.
