Salty Pidi Kozhukattai is a simple, savory steamed dumpling made with rice flour and coconut. First, dry-roast the rice flour until fragrant, then pour in salted boiling water gradually and mix to form a firm dough. Pinch off small lemon-sized portions, roll into balls, and press them in your palm to shape. Arrange on a greased idli plate and steam for 10–15 minutes until set. For an even quicker version, use puttu podi (including red rice puttu podi): just mix in salt and coconut, sprinkle warm water to make a chapati-like dough, shape, and steam. Best enjoyed hot with a spicy chutney.
This pidi kozhukattai is made with Red Rice Puttu Podi (flour). It pairs well with any spicy chutney.

Thank you Sivagami for visiting my site. Pidi Kozhukattai can be made with variations. This is a simple salt Kozhukattai, normally served with spicy onion chutney. The other one is seasoned Kozhukattai, that also I have posted under “Uppuma Kozhukattai” and a more spicy variety “Spicy Kozhukattai” is also posted here. Please check the same.
Thanks for your input.
