In the same kadai, put one more teaspoon ghee and fry the pumpkin gratings till the water content is absorbed and cooked soft and dry.

IS ONE TEASPOON OF GHEE IS SUFFICIENT TO COOK THE GRATED PUMPKINS?

    RAW PUMPKINS ARE GRATED RIGHT?

HOW ABOUT STEAM OR BOIL THE PUMPKIN SLICES AND MASHING IT? SORRY.

NOT TRYING TO CHANGE YOUR RECEIPE BUT JUST OUT OF CURIOUSITY.

Your receipes are great anyway. Love your website.

    • Hi Yoges Sundar,

Yes. 1 teaspoon ghee is sufficient for frying, since we add ghee at the end of cooking.
      Yes. Raw pumpkin is grated.
Yes. You steam cook or even cook with little water and mash it. In fact I have already posted plain pumpkin halwa (wherein I cooked the pumpkin in water and mashed).

Thank you for writing and you are most welcome to share your ideas with me.

      • Dear Kamala
PL. let me know how to prepare sampa rice for chidabaram kosthu
        Dr.Swamy

        • Dr Swamy,

It is very simple. Dry fry a tableslpoon of black pepper and half tablespoon jeeragam (cumin seeds) and powder it coarsely. Add this powder, salt and two to three teaspoons of ghee to a medium size bowl of cooked rice (preferably boiled rice (Puzhunkal arisi sadam). Mix it well. This is called samba sadam.

  4. Thank you

  9. Hi…

I just came across your page and all your recipes look tempting. Would like to try this pumpkin-moong halwa. But can you suggest someother sweetner other than sugar. Can jaggery be added? How will it work out.

    TIA
