Chow Chow Kootu is a mild and comforting South Indian dish. It is made with tender chow chow (chayote squash) and protein-rich green gram dal. The vegetable is cooked with sambar powder, turmeric, and salt until soft. Then it is mixed with the dal to create a creamy, flavorful dish. A simple tempering of mustard seeds, curry leaves, and onions enhances the aroma and taste. This wholesome kootu pairs perfectly with steamed rice. It also serves as a side dish for chapati. It is a nutritious and delicious addition to any meal.

Just want to clarify with you. In most of your recipes u have used green gram dhal. Is it pacha pairu or pasi parupu? Is it Yellow moong dal? Kindly clarify
Hi Divya,
It is pasi paruppu. Also it is called as Payatham paruppu or yellow moong dal.
