Ingredients Yellow pumpkin (tender pumpkin tastes good) – 1 big piece Green Gram dhal (Pasi paruppu / Payatham Paruppu) – 1/2 cup Turmeric Powder – 1/4 teaspoon Sambar powder – 1 teaspoon Small tomato- 1 No Onion chopped finely – 1 tablespoon Salt – 1 teaspoon or as per taste Oil – 1 teaspoon Mustard – 1/2 teaspoon Urad dhal – 1 teaspoon Asafoetida Powder – 1/4 teaspoon Curry Leaves – few Directions Cook green gram dhal along with a pinch of turmeric powder till soft.Remove the skin and seeds from the pumpkin. Cut into bite size pieces.In a frying pan, put one teaspoon oil. When it is hot add mustard seed. When it pops up add urad dhal, asafoetida powder and fry till the dhal becomes light brown. Add onion and curry leaves. Fry for a while and add tomato pieces and fry. Add pumpkin pieces. Add turmeric powder, sambar powder and salt. Add a cup of water just to cover the vegetable. Mix it and cook till the vegetable is soft. Now add the cooked dhal and once again mix it well and allow to boil and remove. Notes Can be served as side dish for any spicy kuzhambu or taken with hot steamed rice.
