This sambar is famous in Thanjavur district and is made with mango, drumstick and jackfruit seeds. In Summer, all the above three vegetables are available plenty and you will definitely find this sambar in every household at least once in a week.
Mangai Murungai Palaakottai Sambar is a tangy, comforting South Indian sambar where soft-cooked thuvar dal meets tender drumstick, creamy jackfruit seeds, and quick-cooking raw mango for a bright, seasonal twist. The veggies are simmered with tomato, sambar powder, turmeric, and salt, then sharpened with tamarind and enriched with mashed dal for a thick, hearty finish. A final tempering of mustard, asafoetida, onions, green chillies, and curry leaves in hot oil ties it all together with irresistible aroma and heat—perfect with rice or idli.

Looks great, Kamala! Nice use of jackfruit seeds. 🙂
