Kootu Podi

Kootu podi is a spice blend that is used in South Indian cuisine to flavor and enhance the taste of kootu, a traditional South Indian dish made with lentils and vegetables. Kootu podi typically includes a variety of spices such as cumin seeds, coriander seeds, black peppercorns, dried red chilies, fenugreek seeds, and curry leaves. These spices are dry roasted and ground together to create the kootu podi powder. This spice blend adds a rich and aromatic flavor to the kootu dish.

This podi (powder) gives a nice flavor and texture to Kootu. You can sprinkle a little podi to your regular kootu before removing from the stove. Or just boil desired vegetables with a little sambar powder and salt. Add a little tamarind water and boil. Finally, sprinkle 2 to 3 teaspoons of this Kootu Podi and mix well. Kootu is ready. Also try this Sundal Podi.
