  6. Hi, I just wanted to say Thank YOU for this site 🙂
um quick question (kind of silly)
will this dish only work with basmati rice or is it alright to use another type of rice?

p.s – I am new to cooking, pardon my silly question(I might have many more in the future, hopefully you won’t mind Thanks :))

  7. Hi Anitha,

Thank you for visiting my site. You can use ordinary rice also. In fact what you are seeing in the above picture is cooked with ordinary raw rice only. If you use Basmati rice, it will enhance the flavour more.

  10. Hi,

    Just an update…..
If you addd onions & ginger garlic paste to this receipe it would be give u more flaovur

I tried in this way.. 1 Grinded oninon added while frying the contentents in the initial stage & then ginger garlic paste 1 table spoon.

    • Thank you Priya for your suggestion. Yes. It will be more flavourful. However, I mainly prepare this for kids and for fasting days. Without onion, ginger, garlic, the rice is with only jeera flavour and can be taken on any festival days too, when most of the people will not use onion, garlic.

Thank you once again for your update on this recipe.
