Rice Mix Powder

This rice mix powder is made with Bengal gram dhal, Urad dhal and red chillies. You can use this powder when you make capsicum rice, tomato rice or any vegetable rice.

  • Tomato Rice

    A flavored rice recipe made with mixed vegetables and left over rice.

    This flavored rice is made with capsicum and chick peas (kondai kadalai). It also uses the rice mix powder.

This rice mix powder is made with Bengal gram dhal, Urad dhal and red chillies. You can use this powder when you make capsicum rice, tomato rice or any vegetable rice.

Ingredients

  • Bengal gram dhal – 1 cup

  • Urad dhal – 1 cup

  • Red chillies – 15

  • Coriander seeds – ¼ cup

  • Cinnamon stick – 1 small piece

  • Cloves – 5

  • Oil – 1 tablespoon

Directions

  • To make capsicum rice, fry the ingredients separately in a teaspoon of oil.
  • When it is lukewarm, grind it to a fine powder.
  • Store it in an airtight container.

    This is Sweta. Cud u tell me with what other dishes (Apart from Idli and dosa) could we have this Idli podi………….we have kids and elders in our house who cant stand very spicy podi …….

    I do not understand which Podi you are talking about. If you refer Idli Milagai Podi, it can be taken with idli and dosa and you can spread the podi mixed with oil on the chapaties and roll it. When you make idli upma, you can sprikle little idli podi.

    If you refer to the rice mix powder, you can use it while preparing poriyal varieties.

    If you want to serve for kids and elders, you can reduce the amount of chillies. You can also prepare Paruppu Podi which is mild only.
