Tamil New Year is on 14th April 2025

Celebrate the Tamil New Year, also called “Varusha Pirappu”, on April 14, 2025. This year, we welcome “Visuvaasuva” (விசுவாசுவா) as the name of the year. This is a time to rejoice in fresh and promising starts. Traditional dishes for this occasion typically include Mango, which represents sourness. Jaggery symbolizes sweetness. Neem flower signifies bitterness. These ingredients acknowledge the varying facets of life.

Mango Pachadi or Neem Flower Pachadi and Neem Flower Rasam are the special dishes prepared for Tamil New Year. So, for this special day cook some special dishes and enjoy with your family and friends.

  • Neem Flower Pachadi

    Veppam Poo Pachadi

    This simple and easy to make Rasam is made with Neem Flower (Veppam Poo). This dish is also specially made during Tamil New Year.

  • Mango Pachadi

    It is a sweet, sour and spicy pachadi mostly prepared on Tamil New Year Day. On Tamil New Year’s Day, fried neem flower is added to this pachadi signifying the different aspects of our life.
